The carbon fiber frame of the SCOTT Contessa Scale 920 is outstanding. The 920 is equipped with a SRAM Eagle 12-speed drivetrain and RockShox Judy fork which, with our RideLoc technology, allows you to set three settings of travel to always optimize performance.

SDS2 SHOCK ABSORBER SYSTEM
Racers will attest that ride comfort is an essential element of performance. During the development of a hardtail frame, it is essential to distinguish the areas of the frame optimized for comfort from those more related to stiffness.
Many brands on the market offer different solutions to improve these aspects, but most of them are limited to only one component or a specific area of the frame. With SCOTT SDS2 technology we go beyond this approach, reinventing the concept of comfort on hardtail frames without adding additional parts or sacrificing pedaling stiffness. To achieve our goal, we performed analyzes and tests to optimize different tube shapes throughout the frame along with precise alignment of the carbon fibers. The result on the new Scale frame is a specific, zone-controlled flex that increases rider comfort and ensures optimal vibration absorption not only in the saddle but also when the rider stands up on the pedals.
This approach to comfort should not only accommodate for the lightest weight achievable, but also maintain stiffness for the sake of pedal efficiency. In addition, the superior stiffness of the frame ensures accurate handling in the steepest sections. In the new Scala we have considered all these aspects to avoid unwanted flexes which would have influenced performance both uphill and downhill.
EVO-LAP TECHNOLOGY
With the correct selection of materials, eighty percent of the work on creating a frame is done. But the remaining twenty percent require most of our efforts. For this reason, our choice of the most advanced carbon fibers on the market is followed by an intensive use of specific tools, such as FEA (finite element analysis) software, to map the carbon lay-up.
With the FEA software, we can simulate different forces on a virtual chassis model and adjust the chassis structure accordingly. FEA software allows us to create complete virtual prototypes that incorporate all the physical phenomena that exist in real-world environments.
With our Evo-Lap technology we model the frame to optimize the surface, simulate tube structures with different ply orientations, observe the results of using different configurations and test the stress distribution in different areas of the frame. Thanks to this extensive computer modeling, we have optimized the carbon layers in all parts of our frame. When the parts were joined together in the first prototypes, the result was a super light and compact frame without sacrificing stiffness, comfort or impact resistance. The entire range has benefited from our Evo-Lap technology.
